One Scene Wonder
ONE SCENE WONDER (Over 18s)
A Five-Day Intensive Filmmaking Course 22nd - 26th June 2026 from 10:00 - 17:00
Make a film. Learn the craft. Finish the work.
One Scene Wonder is a fast-paced, professionally led filmmaking intensive designed to reflect how independent films are actually made. Led by tutors with extensive industry experience, the course brings actors, filmmakers, and creatives together to create original screen work in just five days.
Working in small teams, participants develop a short film idea and focus on one pivotal scene — taking it from page to screen through writing, rehearsal, filming, editing, and final exhibition. Every stage of the process is guided by tutors who have developed, made, and delivered screen work professionally, ensuring that the experience mirrors real-world creative and production practices.
This is a hands-on course for people who want to understand filmmaking from the inside. Participants work across creative and technical roles, learning how decisions are made on set, how departments collaborate, and how creative ideas are shaped by practical realities. The emphasis is on clear storytelling, professional standards, and finishing work to a high level.
The week culminates in a public screening of all completed scenes — a shared moment of completion that reflects the realities of delivering work to an audience.
No previous filmmaking experience is required — just curiosity, commitment, and a willingness to collaborate.
One Scene Wonder is ideal for:
Actors seeking focused, professional on-camera experience
Aspiring filmmakers, directors, and writers
Editors and technicians wanting hands-on production practice
Creatives curious about how screen work functions in the industry
Participants benefit from working closely with tutors who bring real-world insight, clear feedback, and practical guidance throughout the process.
By the end of the course, you will have:
A completed, edited filmed scene made to a professional standard
First-hand experience of a real-world filmmaking process
A deeper understanding of screen performance, direction, and collaboration
Material suitable for showreels or portfolios
Why One Scene?
Because one scene reveals the whole craft.
Focusing deeply on a single scene allows participants to understand how story, performance, camera, sound, and editing work together under real production conditions. It’s an approach rooted in professional practice — and one of the most effective ways to learn how to finish creative work to industry standard.
Tutors:
Glen Marullo is an award-winning filmmaker and industry veteran with decades of experience across film and television. His credits include The Shadow Line, Before Night Falls, and Crocodile Dundee II, alongside extensive work in sound, production, and creative leadership on UK and international projects. His career has been recognised with multiple industry honours, including three Emmys, a Cine Goilden Eagle, a Royal Television Society Award and numerous BAFTA nominations. Glen brings a deep understanding of the real practicalities of film-making, craft, and collaboration to the course.
Jennifer Higham is a screen actor and acting tutor with extensive film and television credits including Ella Enchanted, Cassandra’s Dream, The Lost Honour of Christopher Jefferies, Doctors, and Persuasion. She is also Co-Director of The Actors’ Workshop Bristol, where she works closely with actors on truthful screen performance, rehearsal process, and translating intention into compelling on-camera work.
Clara Marullo Clara is an actor, singer and award-winning writer. Film credits as a writer include the feature film Mustang, The Hidden Kingdom (winner of seven international awards and narrated by Harrison Ford) and numerous treatments. As Founder and Co-Director of The Actors’ Workshop Bristol, Clara has nurtured generations of young actors across both stage and screen.
Together, Glen, Jennifer and Clara create a learning environment that is challenging, practical, and genuinely collaborative.
