Professional Screen Acting Skills
Taught by industry experts, this practical course offers professional training for actors who wish to acquire the technical knowledge and acting skills needed to excel in screen work.
Starting in September 2026, this 24-week course will run on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6.30-9.30pm at our studio on Chatterton Street, Bristol BS1 6PR.
It will culminate with a screening of work in April 2027.
MONDAYS – PRINCIPLES OF FILM-MAKING
The technical aspects and practical time filming will be consistent throughout the course. Taught by industry experts in producing, directing, camera, sound, lighting, costume, hair & make-up and casting, you will learn industry-standard “on-set” conditions and will understand professional etiquette, in what can be challenging circumstances. You will explore the special challenges of screen acting, including health and safety, continuity, radio mics, animatronics, green screen, ADR etc. You will gain a working knowledge of all stages of the process: pre-production, production and post-production. Our technical tutors and visiting experts are all masters of their craft with many years’ experience in feature films and television drama, both in the UK and internationally.
THURSDAYS – ACTING FOR SCREEN
The course focuses on exploring approaches to acting that are particularly suited to screen performance. You will gain the key skills you need in voice, movement, scene-study, presence and more, to make your performance on camera come alive. You will have the opportunity to work on different acting techniques and explore a variety of practitioners, scripts and styles. Taught by our core staff of working actors, this component of the course will deepen and develop your craft and make you more employable.
** If you are applying for BA/MA courses in Screen Acting, we will coach you through the entire process, from choosing the right portfolio of courses, writing a strong personal statement and finding the right audition material right through to final recall and beyond –greatly increasing your chances of success.**
Professional Voice Reel - and Showreel material…
The final part of the course will be writing and recording your professional voice reel, produced to industry standards and formatted for Spotlight/casting directors.
You will also have access to all the material you have filmed during the course, which you can use for whatever purposes you wish….
We will celebrate the end of the course with a screening of your work at a local cinema.

Course Fee: £2500
**This can be paid in one lump sum upon acceptance/signing of contract or split into two payments of £1150, payable on acceptance/by 1st January 2025.
