A six-week Intensive in Monologues, Devising & Interview Preparation

Tuesdays 24th February - 31st March from 6.30-8.30pm on Zoom.

If you’ve reached recalls, you’re already doing strong work.
This course is designed to help you maximise your chances at the stage where decisions are made.

If you’ve reached recalls, you’re already working at a high level.

This course focuses on strengthening the skills that matter most at audition: flexible monologue work, taking direction, devising and improvisation, clear interview technique, and managing nerves under pressure. Led by the specialist tutor team at The Actors’ Workshop Bristol, the course draws on our exceptional track record of recalls, offers, and successful drama school places across the UK’s leading conservatoires.

This is focused, professional preparation for applicants who are already through the door — and want to walk all the way through it.

Why Us?

The Actors’ Workshop Bristol is known for its consistently high hit rate (around 90% of foundation students are offered places on BA/MA courses at accredited UK conservatoires every year) at drama school auditions.

Our courses are taught by a specialist team of professional tutors — experienced actors, directors, devising practitioners, and panelists — all with deep knowledge of how recall days actually work.

They understand:

  • What panels are really assessing

  • Why strong applicants sometimes fall short

  • How decisions are made at final round

This course is built around that insider understanding.

No gimmicks.
No generic advice.
Just clear, rigorous preparation designed to raise your level under pressure.

This course is for current drama school applicants who:

  • Have recalls or final rounds for UK drama schools

  • Want to strengthen their ability to work flexibly and responsively in auditions

  • Are preparing for devising, improvisation, or group recall tasks

  • Want to ensure their monologues are consistently working for them, not against them

  • Want to handle redirection, interviews, and pressure with greater clarity and confidence

  • Are ready to develop the full skill set required at recall stage

This is not an introductory acting class.
It’s for applicants ready to work seriously and specifically at recall level.

Across six weeks, you’ll receive detailed coaching in three key areas:

Monologues

  • Deepening choices, transitions and clarity

  • Flexibility: responding to redirection with imagination and intelligence.

  • Doing your best work under pressure: finding the sweet spot between relaxation and panic.

  • Making sure your recall monologue choices are working for you.

Workshops and devising tasks

  • Approaching devising with confidence and initiative

  • Skills for generating material quickly and collaboratively

  • Staying flexible, generous, and present in the room

Interview Preparation

  • Articulating curiosity, readiness, and self-awareness

  • Speaking clearly about your work and training

  • Being yourself and owning your space

  • Avoiding common interview pitfalls

You’ll receive direct, specific feedback and time to apply notes week by week — building confidence, reliability, and control.

Places are limited to make sure every students gets individual attention.

You will leave with:

  • Stronger, more adaptable monologues

  • Clear strategies for devising and group tasks

  • Confidence and consistency at recall stage

  • Interview clarity and professional self-presentation

  • A calmer, more grounded audition presence

Most importantly, you’ll be better equipped to convert recalls into offers.
