Exciting News!

After years of renting space by the hour, we are finally moving into our own space at Factory 8 in Bedminster, Bristol this summer, as associate artists of inspirational world music specialists, Gathering Voices  www.gatheringvoices.org.uk  We have lots of plans afoot for new courses and extra classes - for children, adults and professional actors. Please watch this space for new developments…

As you can see though, the space needs some work! We urgently need to fund a removable dance floor and some blacks (so we can subdivide the space into three rehearsal/teaching zones).

Can you help us? Are you a graduate of the College Foundation Course now working in the industry? Did you son/daughter get into drama school because of The Actors' Workshop? Are you just passionate about the arts in Bristol? PLEASE, PLEASE give as much or as little as you can: every penny will be used to turn the space into a creative hub, helping more young performers realise their dreams and providing a crucial stepping stone into the profession. Thank you!!

Do you dream of being a professional actor?
Showcase The entertainment industry is highly competitive: success depends on ability and excellence. Raw talent is nothing without an appropriate skill set.

The Actors' Workshop is not just another drama school. It is a unique centre of excellence, offering expert part-time training for young performers who show exceptional ability for their age. Our inspirational workshops, led by industry professionals, build on your existing accomplishments, taking performance skills to a new level and preparing young actors for a career in the very tough and demanding world of performing arts.

Small classes and individual mentoring are the cornerstones of our work: we work closely with each student to unlock potential and exceed expectations.

Courses at The Actors' Workshop are based around key skills needed for theatre, TV and film work. As working actors ourselves, we are constantly enhancing our own skills, and therefore yours. Between us, we have a wide range of specialism, spanning everything from Shakespeare to stage combat, screen acting to musical theatre. We offer advanced and specialised vocal training, text work and audition practice. Our focus emphasises the need to understand character & motivation: to 'tell the story' in an ever-changing media environment.

Many of our young actors are already working in the business; others are moving on to train at top drama colleges.

Our dedicated  College Foundation Course  prepares candidates for the enormous demands of drama school entry auditions. In an environment where it is easier to get into Oxbridge than into a UK drama school, our annual success rate (currently around 65%) speaks for itself.

Members of The Actors' Workshop are signed with a variety of top London agents. The Actors' Workshop is affiliated with two vibrant and dynamic London agents: Susan Roberts of SRA and Paul Byram Associates. We work very closely with these agencies to get the very best opportunities for our students.

Entry to The Actors' Workshop is by audition for those aged 11-17 and by interview for the College Foundation Course. Although many of our students already have some professional experience, this is not crucial: we also accept talented performers with minimal experience who are passionate about their work and dedicated to learning their craft in a supportive professional environment. Please click the links to the College Foundation Course, College Juniors, Teenage Classes to find out more about them.

The Actors' Workshop holds annual showcases at major Bristol Theatres to promote our students in a wider forum. We also set up studio shows and film project screenings on a regular basis.
